The Sailfish, Marlin, and Dorado have arrived
Good morning everyone! Exciting news from our fishing spot here in Nicaragua. The sailfish, marlin, and dorado have arrived, and we’ve been having fantastic daily catches over the past two weeks. The weather has been fine, with minimal wind and occasional spotty rain. The water conditions have improved significantly since the storm four weeks ago, and the fishing action is back on track.
For the past several years, I’ve been emphasizing that Nicaragua is emerging as a premier sport fishery for marlin, and our resident marlin population is impressively large. The biggest marlin we’ve encountered this season weighed approximately 700 lbs. Sailfishing is all year, the largest this season reaching the 160lb mark. I did have an exhilarating encounter with a massive black marlin in the 900 to 1000lb range, but unfortunately, it didn’t take the bait (probably because it’s a smart fish, which explains its size!). Not many people are aware yet of the incredible fishery that exists in Nicaragua, but I assure you, it’s real!
