    The fish’s body exhibits dark blue on top and brown blue on the sides, with a silvery white underbelly.     Marine biologists theorize that the sail of the sailfish functions as a cooling and heating system. The sailfish’s sail is backed by a network of numerous blood vessels. It raises the sail either before or after high-speed bursts near the water’s surface, confirming this fact..
